TROPS, SAT 2803 is an Organization of Fruit and Vegetables Producers founded in 1979. It currently has more than 1,800 associated farmers.

Trops is a leader in tropical fruit production and marketing, particularly avocado and mango, complementing its supply with litchi, kumquat, loquat, custard apple and leek, as well as with a new specialized line of fine herbs, highlighting parsley and coriander. It uses conventional as well as ecological production.

Trops feels that the key factor in their success is having an independent marketing company that can develop a brand name matched in the market, and being able to be present for 12 months of the year at sales venues creating key alliances with Producers’ Organizations and other companies from third countries whose production is complementary.

In 2012 new facilities which will eventually triple the commercial volume, started functioning; providing more and better services to their customers. This guarantees the good marketing of the fruit produced by their business partners and associates.

These new facilities with an approximate investment of 17 million euros, include several technological innovations in the tropical fruit world sector which will allow Trops to add value to their fruit by giving consumers better taste and quality, and the farmer greater profits

The technology used combines electronic technology imported from New Zealand and some designed computer developments made in Almeria in addition to engineering developments of inner logistics developed in Valencia. All this carried out in rational, efficient and flexible facilities.

The fourth section, under the commercial brand name of FRUDEL, innovates by constantly launching new products. Apart from guacamole, avocado slices and avocado desserts, in March 2012 the avocado gazpacho (Andalucian vegetable soup) was launched as a world novelty.

Trops has all the necessary quality certificates to supply fruit anywhere in the western market.

Trops’ corporate responsibility to its enviroment is a key element in management that includes aspects such as:

• Development of Projects of Research and Growth with Malaga, Cordoba and Jaen Universities and the experimental stations of the Higher Council in Scientific Research.

• The Promotion of fruits and vegetable consumption in society in general and in nursery children’s schools particularly.

• Active participation in all those associations that encourage the social development of the agricultural environment.
